With the release of the groups feature on Vox, I've decided it would be best that Sactown Vox find a new home there. Now anyone who joins the group can easily add their own posts to the group without needing the password to this Sactown Vox account. So check it out and join the Sactown Vox Group!
This is the official Vox blog for Voxers who live in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. If you've been added to the neighborhood, it is most likely because I've been using super secret stalking methods to root out all those Sactown Voxers in hiding. If I'm wrong, and you aren't from Sactown, just let me know and I'll cut you loose.
Right now this blog will be maintained by Eloise (that's me) and Sunflowergurl. We do want to include more contributors eventually, but the goal right now is to build up a reader base so that we can organize a Vox meetup. And since this whole regional Vox thing is new to me, I'll be shamelessly stealing ideas from the BoVox and Southland Vox blogs since they've been doing this for a while now. Here's what I hope we can accomplish from this blog:
Sactown Voxer Meetups:
The number one reason for having an official Vox meetup: The Vox Schwag. Team Vox has been great in their support of other Vox meetups by posting announcements on the Team Vox blog and offering their encouragement and support for Vox enthusiasts. And hey, we're close enough to SF that we could try to persuade some of the Team Voxers to visit us during the meetup, right? *nudge-nudge*
It's also important that we have a central blog where Sactown Voxers can discuss potential meetup locations. Ideally it should be a place that serves good, cheap food, has plenty of seating, and somewhere where the owners don't mind people sitting around for long periods of time chit-chatting. So if anyone has any preliminary ideas, feel free to post them in the comments or send a message to Sactown Vox.
Sharing local events with other Voxers:
Yes, we all complain that there is never anything to do in Sacramento, but if we just look hard enough, there actually is a lot to do around this town! If you have an event you would like to announce (maybe you are a musician with a gig or an artist with a gallery show or a runner in a sporting event) this will be a great place to share those events so we can all quit saying that there's never anything fun to do in Sacramento. If there's something you want to announce, send a message to Sactown Vox.
Meeting other Sactown Voxers:
Whether you're looking to make new friends or do a little networking, by checking out the Sactown Vox neighborhood you might find some people who really interest you. Don't be shy, just add them to your Vox neighborhood and who knows...you might actually like getting to know these people who live in your REAL neighborhood!
good idea Eloise! I didn't think about that. read more
